As the pandemic continues to rage in New York, legal services providers have had to continually adjust their work to assist clients impacted by domestic violence. The virtual courtroom and remote practice has only added to those challenges. Since last Spring, we have learned how to be more creative and flexible while trying to meet our clients’ needs– both rural and urban. This webinar will provide practitioners with useful tips for appearing and conducting hearings in the virtual courtroom, safety planning, preparing clients for the virtual courtroom, and protecting the record. The presenters will also discuss the specific challenges of offering testimony and admitting evidence. The presentation was previously recorded on February 23, 2021.
Presenters: Anna Maria Diamanti, Esq., Her Justice and Susan Griskonis, Esq., The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York
