Foreclosure defense and mortgage loss mitigation often implicate basic real property law issues, and for some, law school’s first year property course was long ago. This session provides a refresher on such basics as the different forms of property ownership (tenancies in common, joint tenancies with rights of survivorship, tenancies by the entirety, etc.), impact of death on different forms of holding title, different means of conveyances of property (such as quit claim deeds), and an overview of New York’s recording statute. |
