
Lisa Milas is a Staff Attorney and Regional Manager for Empire Justice Center’s Anchor Partner program for the New York State Office of the Attorney General’s Homeowner Protection Program (HOPP). Lisa works in our Long Island office overseeing HOPP grants, providing technical assistance, legal consultation, and training to legal services providers statewide. Lisa coordinates local efforts with advocates on Long Island as they assist homeowners in default and foreclosure.
Before joining Empire Justice Center, she spent many years in private practice most recently as a partner at a mid-sized law firm in Albany, New York, where her practice focused on consumer bankruptcy. She has also represented creditors on the state level in mortgage and tax lien foreclosures. She was selected as a member of United States Trustee Liaison Committee for United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District. She also served as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York-Poughkeepsie Division. She is a member of the Consumer Lawyer Advisory Committee for the Eastern District of New York and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
