Nathaniel Baldo

Title: Supervising Staff Attorney
Office Location: Rochester
Department: Legal
(585) 454-4060

Nate Baldo is a supervising staff attorney with Empire Justice Center in our public benefits unit. He obtained his J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he served as a Pro-Bono Scholar, a program in which students devote their final semester to pro-bono legal work. For his placement, Nate interned at Journey’s End Refugee Services, assisting clients with asylum applications, work authorizations, and TPS renewals.

Prior to receiving his J.D., Nate worked for a wide variety of non-profit organizations encompassing civil legal services, care management, and disability rights advocacy. Much of his experience involves health advocacy for clients seeking proper care through their Medicaid and Medicare insurance plans. Nate previously served as a health law paralegal at Empire Justice, helping advocate for clients in need of dental services, surgical procedures, and home care. He also served as a healthcare advocate with Regional Center for Independent Living, where he represented clients at fair hearings through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. Through this successful advocacy, Nate’s clients were able to avoid cuts to their Medicaid-funded home care, enabling them to remain at home. Lastly, Nate worked as a care manager at Lifespan of Greater Rochester, where he assisted caregivers of older adults with memory loss access housing, legal services, public benefits, and social supports.
