Kristin DeVries joined Empire Justice Center in September 2026 as Director of Policy & Communications, bringing nearly 20 years of experience and her passion for advocacy, strategic engagement, and organizational leadership. Prior to joining Empire Justice Center, Kristin served as Director of Government Relations and Director of Assisted Living & Strategic Communications for NYSHFA | NYSCAL, a statewide long-term care trade association. Before that, she served as Director of Policy and Advocacy for Sepsis Alliance, a national patient advocacy organization where she worked with the federal government and stakeholders to advance sound infectious disease policies and practices. Earlier in her career, Kristin held several policy, education, and operational roles at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), District II, a statewide membership association. She also worked on health policy issues for both the New York State Legislature and the New York State Governor’s Office. Kristin holds a dual M.A. in U.S. History and Public Policy from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany.
