Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964 requires that social services districts provide meaningful access to services and benefits to individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP.) Subtitle A of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects persons with disabilities from discrimination in the administration of benefits programs and services.
The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance has reminded local districts of their responsibilities with respect to individuals with disabilities and those who have limited English proficiency and required all districts to create a self-assessment form, which includes copies of relevant district created documents See: 06 ADM-05 and 17 INF-14 (link). Empire Justice, through the Freedom of Information Act, has obtained these local district documents as well as any other relevant county forms, which are posted below, so that advocates can use these documents in their work.
