A notice is a document letting you know what is happening to your benefits. If you received a notice that you disagree with, you can challenge it at a fair hearing. For example, you can challenge a notice saying your application was denied, your benefit amount was reduced, or your case was closed.
You will not always receive a notice before there is a change to your benefits. If you see a change in your benefits, you can request a fair hearing right away, even if you did not get a notice.
Common Questions
When will the changes start?
How do I know who sent me the notice?
Sometimes, you will receive a notice and you may not be sure who to contact. This may happen if you receive a notice related to Medicaid.
If you last applied or recertified through the New York State of Health Marketplace (NYSOH), you may need to submit your fair hearing with NYSOH, NOT the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).The first page of the notice will say which Agency the notice is from.
