Health Law Attorney – Rochester
The Health Law Attorney will supervise the health team and health law work at Empire Justice Center; provide statewide support, technical assistance and training to community-based and legal services organizations in NYS; assist individual clients in navigating health coverage and public health programs by advising them about the programs, informing them of their rights, advocating for coverage and services; and assisting them in appeals and hearings; develop and plan systems change litigation; stay abreast of developments in health law; analyze cases and case trends and help develop policy strategies to address systemic issues in health; Develop and present trainings on health coverage and health care access; and participate in systemic administrative and legislative advocacy to improve health care access.
Health Policy Attorney/Manager – Albany
Empire Justice Center’s Albany office seeks a full-time advocate to help lead and shape our health law and policy work at the state level. The position will build on the strong reputation of Empire Justice Center in effectively advocating to defend, maintain and improve access to health insurance and high quality health services for low income and marginalized New Yorkers. The position will focus primarily on policy advocacy regarding public health insurance programs, including Medicaid, Medicare and the Essential Plan. In addition, the advocate will be expected to provide superior legal analysis, technical assistance and training to attorneys and advocates across the state.
Workers’ Rights/Employment Law Attorney – Rochester
Empire Justice is seeking an experienced attorney to serve in our Rochester office. As a member of our Civil Rights, Education and Employment Practice Group, the Workers’ Rights Attorney will have the opportunity to work with team members to develop and litigate systemic change employment cases and will manage a caseload representing diverse individuals and groups of low-wage workers living throughout the Genesee Valley region. These cases include federal and state wage claims, employment discrimination, enforcement of state and federal labor protective statutes, civil rights matters, and other related areas of law. The Workers’ Rights Attorney will have the opportunity to develop dynamic and creative strategies that help workers achieve justice, through systemic litigation. An integral part of the Attorney’s work also includes advocacy on behalf of low wage workers through state level policy initiatives, and collaboration with community organizations supporting the low-income and marginalized communities we serve.
